ODE, created for the opening of the exhibition and book launch INSIDE BLACK, a project initiated by artist Leslie Browne, references the chapter "A Diary of Reflection" that Monique Duurvoort wrote for the book.
A reflection on her experiences from her life in professional dance. How she was raised within classical ballet, how she learned, from within the context of (the aesthetics of) ballet, to look at herself and her surroundings, and how she views that now.
Monique danced the duet ODE together with Yailah Vroom, a young dancer at the very beginning of her life in professional dance.
